Dental Checkup

Why are teeth important?

Why are teeth important? They are a part of our bodies, and our face. They help us communicate by showing our smiles, or when we grit them to show our distaste. They help us eat whatever we want – from soft donuts to crunchy nuts.

We need teeth, and like the rest of our body parts, we don’t fully appreciate them until they hurt. And they are meant to last… for the rest of your life. That means, depending on what age you’re reading this – it could be 10, 20, 30, 40, maybe even 50 years.

Teeth, unfortunately, are exposed to all sorts of dangerous things that can, with time, lead to their demise. They can rot, the gums can rot, teeth can get loose, and they can also break.

Dental checkups are important because through a thorough examination process, we can help reduce the impact of dental disease and wear and tear through conservative treatment. Delaying treatment usually leads to great impact of disease and further wear, which then becomes more invasive over time.

Dental disease is absolutely preventable. Brushing and flossing along with regular visits to the dentist and going along with their recommendations, can be very beneficial to long term overall oral health.

At Bella Dental Penrith, our existing patients get a gentle reminder every 6 months to check in with us, and help to keep their teeth healthy and beautiful for the long term. We call it the “Teeth for Life” Programme.

If you live in the Penrith region, please contact our friendly team at Bella Dental Penrith to organise an appointment with one of our dentists to join our “Teeth for Life” programme.
